A third-party impact evaluation of the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) and the Deendayal Divyangjan Rehabilitation Scheme (DDRS) has been conducted for their appraisal.
The evaluation study has reported that RVY is exceptionally well aligned with the needs of eligible senior citizens. The Scheme has had a transformative impact on the mobility and functional independence of beneficiaries by providing assistive devices that enable them to walk independently and move around without assistance. It is particularly effective in promoting independent living and reducing reliance on caregivers for basic mobility and daily functioning.
The evaluation study of DDRS indicates that the Scheme has delivered significant outcomes in education, rehabilitation, assistive support, and livelihood inclusion. It highlights the provision of educational and therapeutic services, leading to substantial functional improvement, along with the distribution of free assistive devices that have demonstrated high usability and beneficiary satisfaction. The evaluation also notes improved livelihood linkages, strong community and parental engagement, and enhanced transparency and timeliness through the e-Anudaan digital platform. Overall, the findings reflect high beneficiary satisfaction, improved social inclusion, and an enhanced quality of life.
