As per the National Cooperative Database (NCD), as on 15.07.2026, there are 12,207 and 88,119 cooperative societies in the States of Jharkhand and Gujarat, respectively. The sector-wise details of the total and functional cooperative societies in these States, including Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), Dairy, Fishery, Tribal-SC/ST, Women Welfare and Multi-purpose cooperatives, are attached at Annexure-1.
The Government launched the Central Sector Project for Computerization of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) in 2022 to bring all functional PACS onto a common ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) based national software. Initially, 63,000 PACS were approved under the project with a financial outlay of ₹2,516 crore, which has since been enhanced to cover 79,630 PACS with a revised outlay of ₹2,925.39 crore. The State-wise details of the financial assistance provided under the project, including to the States of Jharkhand and Gujarat, are attached at Annexure-2.
Further, as on 30.06.2026, the State-wise details of the disbursements made by National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) during last five years are attached at Annexure-3.
The Ministry of Cooperation, since its inception on 06.07.2021, has undertaken several initiatives to strengthen cooperative institutions in aspirational and tribal districts under the vision of "Sahakar-se-Samriddhi." A dedicated window has been developed on the National Cooperative Database (NCD) portal to facilitate monitoring and strengthening of cooperatives in aspirational districts and blocks.
Further, the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Act, 2023 provides for reservation of two seats for Women and one seat for SC or ST on the Board of every Multi-State Cooperative Society. In addition, the Ministry has circulated Model Bye-laws for Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) to all States/UTs to promote inclusive membership and ensure adequate representation of Women and SCs/STs.
