The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India is holding a two-day ‘Open Hearing and Camp Sitting’ at Gyan Bhawan, Patna, Bihar on 7th - 8th October 2026 to hear cases of alleged human rights violations in the State.

On Day-1, NHRC Chairperson, Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Members, Justice (Dr.) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Smt. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani will hear cases in the Full Commission sitting in the presence of complainants and concerned officers of the State.

The next day, on 8th October 2026, the Commission will hear cases in two separate Benches. The Chairperson will hear cases of alleged bonded labour. Simultaneously, a Division Bench, comprising Members, Justice (Dr.) Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi and Smt. Vijaya Bharathi Sayani, will hear cases related to compliance matters and other complaints of alleged violation of human rights.

Thereafter, the Commission will interact with representatives of civil society organisations, NGOs and Human Rights Defenders. In the concluding session, the Commission will hold a meeting of senior officers to discuss important human rights issues pertaining to the State.

The NHRC, India has been holding Camp Sittings from time to time in various States since 2007 to facilitate easy access to justice for the victims of human rights violations.
