(a): As per inputs received from the three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), namely BPCL, IOCL and HPCL, under the FAME-II Scheme, a total of 482 EV public charging stations (EVPCS) have been sanctioned in West Bengal, of which 463 are operational as on 01.07.2026. The district-wise details of number of EVPCS sanctioned and operational in West Bengal as on 01.07.2026 are provided at Annexure I.
(b): No such assessment has been done.
(c) to (e): As per information received from BHEL, the Project Implementation Agency for PM E-DRIVE Scheme for EVPCS, a proposal has been received from West Bengal, in which no chargers are proposed for Mathurapur. However, the proposal includes 5 EVPCS for South 24 Parganas district (located in Canning, Bakkhali, Diamond Harbour, Kakdwip and Namkhana).
No Financial Assistance has been provided to West Bengal under PM E-DRIVE Scheme till date.
Under the FAME-II Scheme Rs.912.50 crore were allocated for setting up of EVPCS on pan India basis and no state wise allocation was made.
Further, an allocation of Rs.2,000 crore have been made under the PM E-DRIVE scheme, for deployment of EVPCS on pan India basis including West Bengal.
Further, setting up of EV charging stations (EVCS) is an unlicensed activity and any institution including private entities are free to setup, operate and maintain EVCS across India.
